Before he can hear people cry

How many ears must one man have before he can hear people cry The answer my friend is blowing in the wind The answer is blowing in the wind

Friends, I'm crying tonight.  I've reached the real bottom of the barrel with my savings (everything is empty now), the bills are unpaid, and I don't know where to find any hope. And I know it's worse for many of the other almost 3 million who've been denied benefits while Congress dithered and much worse for the 99'ers.

And where is the light at the end of the tunnel:  "There's no good answer [to when the unemployment extension checks will finally go out."

Here is just one of 14.6 million stories of the unemployed:

You Don't Understand Until It's You I am a 53y/o divorced woman who lives alone. I have exhausted all financial avenues to SURVIVE. I have pawned, sold, begged and applied for everything possible. ....

I can't believe they would push us to more misery and humiliation. I used to walk proud now I can't color my hair or have my feet done.I didn't realize that good grooming meant so much to me. Don't wear makeup anymore because I can't afford it. I really miss razors to shave my legs.

Rationing toilet paper and soap is my new pastime and I had to cancel trash pick up.  Once a week I drive to a dumpster somewhere and throw my trash away.  Watching the seasons go by and not being able to participate in seasonal things like Christmas. I'm like an observer of life now not a participant. I turn the thermostat up, dry my clothes outside, don't go anywhere or do anything.

Someone suggested I give up my little dog. No, she is all I have. It is a waiting game. Waiting for endless hours or sometimes days to get assistance along with countless other sad souls. This is making me sad. Good luck.

While Obama and other Dems have finally begun speaking out on unemployment benefits, where were their voices in June? How many millions of people have nothing left but tears?  Why did Reid allow a recess instead of pushing through the extension before July 4?  Why couldn't the House have stayed in session tonight to pass the Senate's bill?  Where is the urgency with the only lifeline some of us have?  Why aren't Democratic leaders proposing the massive stimulus this economy and the unemployed so desperately need?

When will our cries finally be heard?
